Description
Tutule is a small town in La Paz, in south-western Honduras, part of the Montecillos mountain region on the coffee map. This lot brings together IHCAFE 90 and Catuaí grown at 1,450–1,600 metres by small farmers around the town.
It is a natural: the cherries are dried whole, so the bean sits with the fruit's sugars throughout drying. In the cup that shows as dried-fruit sweetness and a round body, with fresh citrus balanced by caramel and cacao.
Cupping score 83.5. The fruit leads in filter brews; in espresso and milk drinks the caramel and cacao side comes forward.
Brew tips
For filter, start with a V60 (1:15–1:16) or a French press (1:13). Try it ground for Turkish coffee too, for a fruitier cup from the cezve.
